What is a Vaporizer?

A vaporizer is a device that uses a temperature controlled heating element to heat liquids until they undergo a phase change to their vapor state. A familiar example of this process is that of boiling water. As water in a hot kettle begins to boil it becomes steam or water vapor. The steam is very similar to the vapor produced by the Grasshopper. To understand how vaporization works for dried herbs we must first understand what we are vaporizing.

The Grasshopper Vaporizer’s Front-end is the primary user interface point. Users draw through it, pulling hot air into the chamber, creating vapor as the oil in the plant material boils. A feat of both engineering and manufacturing, the Front-end pairs an elegant design with effective vapor delivery.

Over the last few months, we've been working behind the scenes to implement internal upgrades to the Grasshopper Vaporizer. We addressed the most common issues, improved performance, and increased reliability. The Grasshopper is continually evolving into a better and better product. With the addition of new internal components, it is necessary to add identify markings for reliability tracking. Hopper Labs acquired a Rofin Laser marking system for this purpose.

The Backend is the technical designation for the On/Off button and temperature dial component of the Grasshopper. A jam-packed piece of machined stainless steel contains a circuit board, microcontroller, springs,  temperature dial, On/Off button, clip, and battery access threading. This compact and complex piece is responsible for the user interface and easy operation of the device
